Description
The Tung-Sol 6L6G uses the original ST (shouldered-tube) glass envelope of the 1940s rather than the later cylindrical GT style, making it both visually and tonally distinctive. The ST bottle has a wider internal space which some engineers and enthusiasts believe contributes to a more open, three-dimensional sound compared to the GT envelope.
This matched pair is suited to vintage Fender amplifiers originally equipped with the ST-bottle 6L6 — particularly earlier tweed and wide-panel designs — as well as to Hi-Fi amplifiers where the visual and tonal character of the original envelope is desired.
