Description
The EL844 is JJ Electronic’s proprietary lower-power variant of the classic EL84/6BQ5. By reducing the plate dissipation rating, the EL844 allows EL84-based amplifiers to be driven harder at lower volume levels, producing classic power amp breakup at more manageable output levels.
This makes the EL844 particularly appealing for recording and home studio use, where full EL84 amplifiers (such as Vox AC15 and AC30 designs) are often too loud to run at the power levels where they sound best. It is a direct drop-in replacement in any EL84 position.
Compatible with all amplifiers specifying EL84 or 6BQ5. Bias adjustment may be required. Supplied as a single valve.
