About Me

Hi, I’m Tammy, I’m an engineer, educator, mentor, mum, and therapeutic practitioner with over 30 years of lived and professional experience supporting children and young people with diverse needs.

I began my teaching career in mainstream education, both as a teacher and a parent navigating the system with my own neurodivergent kids. But I quickly saw the cracks. I was burnt out. The kids were burnt out. Nobody was getting what they needed.

So I stepped out of the system and started something new.

I wanted to offer a service that was holistic, flexible, and genuinely client-led — combining evidence-based strategies with play-based learning and real relationships. I began working one-on-one with families, originally as a subcontractor for SPELD-SA, and soon built up enough demand to open my own private practice. I converted a home studio space into a sensory gym and created a welcoming, neuro-affirming environment where each young person could thrive.

Together Growing Strong was born out of that vision — to meet people exactly where they are, and support them with compassion, creativity, and care.

Now, nine years later, the business has grown with me. My own children are older, and I’ve expanded the sensory gym. I’m running groups again and broadening the ways I support families — including online resources, mentoring programs, and personalised coaching. I am a registered teacher, have my Working With Children Check, NDIS Clearances and First Aid qualifications. Whether I’m supporting a teenager to build confidence, helping a parent feel empowered, or teaching executive functioning skills through movement and play, I bring my full self to the work — as a teacher, a carer, a counsellor-in-training, and a fellow human walking the path alongside you.

This is more than just a job to me. It’s my purpose.
