The Sovtek 12AX7LPS is one of the most celebrated current-production preamp valves in the world. The LP denotes a long-plate construction; the S indicates a spiral filament — a combination that produces an exceptionally low noise floor and a characteristically warm, three-dimensional tonal presentation that has earned this valve near-legendary status among players and audiophiles alike.
The spiral filament reduces hum pickup compared to straight-filament designs, making the LPS an outstanding choice for the critical V1 position in high-gain guitar amplifiers and for phono-stage and input-stage use in Hi-Fi equipment. The long-plate geometry contributes to a smooth, full-bodied midrange and extended bass response.
