Description
The 5963 is a ruggedised, low-mu dual triode produced primarily for computer and industrial applications, functionally equivalent to the 12AU7 / ECC82 but manufactured to tighter tolerances for longer operational life. It was produced by major American manufacturers including RCA, Sylvania, and GE.
The 5963 is a direct drop-in replacement for the 12AU7 in most audio applications, and its ruggedised construction can make it an appealing choice for amplifiers where long service life is valued. It is occasionally used by audiophiles as a premium 12AU7 substitute.
