Description
The 6BA6 (and its equivalents CV4009, 5749, EF93, 6660) is a variable-mu IF amplifier pentode widely used in radio and television receivers throughout the 1950s and 60s. Its variable transconductance allows automatic gain control (AGC), making it essential in superheterodyne receiver designs.
New Old Stock examples from various manufacturers are available, including military-spec CV4009 types. These valves interest restorers of vintage radio and television equipment, as well as experimenters building regenerative receivers or vintage-style radio circuits.
Similar types include 2J6BA6, 5749W, 6660, W727. B7G 7-pin base. A single valve is supplied.
