Description
The 6ES8 (ECC189) is a variable-mu twin triode used in the AGC (automatic gain control) stages of high-quality radio and television equipment. Similar to CV5331 and 6T29.
Its variable transconductance characteristic and twin-triode construction have made the ECC189 of significant interest to audiophile circuit designers, particularly for phono preamplifiers where its variable gain can be used for volume control or gain-setting functions. Various NOS manufacturers are in stock.
