Description
The 6U8 (American) and ECF82 (European) are electrically equivalent triode-pentode compound valves widely used in radio receivers for combined IF amplification and detection in a single envelope. Australian Philips/AWV examples are available, made locally during the golden age of Australian valve manufacture.
Similar types include 6CQ8, 6TP1, 6BL8, ECF80, and ECF82. The triode section can serve as a low-noise preamplifier while the pentode section provides high-gain amplification, making these compound valves interesting for experimental audio applications as well as restoration.
Various brands may be supplied. Noval 9-pin base. A single valve is supplied.
