Description
The E180F (also known as 6688) is a high-performance frame-grid pentode of the same family as the E180CC and E88CC, originally manufactured to exacting standards for professional and military instrumentation. Its frame-grid construction gives extremely high transconductance and low noise compared to conventional pentodes of the era.
In audio applications, the E180F is prized for phono preamp input stages and high-gain line amplifiers where low noise and excellent linearity are critical. It is less common than the E88CC but shares a similarly demanding build quality from manufacturers such as Philips, Siemens, and Mullard.
