Description
The EA53 is a triode-driven magic eye tuning indicator valve — one of the more unusual and visually striking types in the valve catalogue. Its fluorescent screen displays a green wedge pattern that narrows as the tuning signal strengthens, giving a clear visual indication of signal alignment without a meter. The EA53 was used in premium European hi-fi tuners and high-end radio receivers of the 1950s and 60s.
Magic eye valves have experienced a renaissance among audio enthusiasts who appreciate their warm, dynamic display. The EA53 is rarer than the more common EM80, EM84 and 6E2 types, making genuine NOS examples genuinely collectible. They are also used decoratively in custom audio and lighting builds.
Each valve is tested on an Amplitrex AT1000 before dispatch. Supplied as a single valve.
