The ECC82 / 12AU7 is one of the most versatile dual triodes in audio electronics, used in driver stages, phase splitters, headphone amplifiers, and line stages. Its medium amplification factor (µ ≈ 17) makes it ideal for low-impedance buffering and driving output stages.
This Ei (Elektronska Industrija, Yugoslavia) example is held in high regard by audiophiles for its consistent quality, low noise, and smooth tonal character. Ei supplied valves to many European Hi-Fi manufacturers and their 12AU7 is a benchmark for the type.
