Description
The General Electric 6AS7G (equivalent to 6080, Russian 6N13S) is a dual power triode with low amplification factor and high current capability, originally designed for use as a shunt regulator in regulated DC power supplies. Its characteristics — low mu, high transconductance, and high plate current — make it ideal for use as an output device in output-transformerless (OTL) amplifiers and headphone amplifiers.
NOS GE 6AS7G valves are popular in OTL headphone amplifiers from Bottlehead (Crack), Schiit (Valhalla), and custom builds where this specifically American type is favoured. USA-made NOS examples are regarded as more consistent than some later production types. Supplied as a single valve.
