Description
The Mullard CV4004 is a new-production reissue of the British military equivalent of the ECC83 / 12AX7, featuring a shorter plate geometry than the standard Mullard 12AX7. The shorter plate reduces microphonics — a significant advantage in phono stage and sensitive input stage applications where mechanical resonance can translate directly into audible noise.
CV4004-spec valves were originally produced for the British Ministry of Defence and were required to meet tighter mechanical and electrical tolerances than civilian ECC83 production. Mullard’s reissue captures this character in a new-production valve with reliable, consistent performance.
Compatible with any 12AX7, ECC83, 7025 or CV4004 position. Particularly recommended for phono stages and Hi-Fi preamp first stages. Single valve, tested before dispatch.
