The Philips JAN ECG 5687WB is a high-transconductance, high-current dual triode made to Joint Army-Navy (JAN) military specification by Philips ECG in the USA. The 5687 was developed specifically for demanding output driver and impedance-transformation applications in military and communications equipment, where its high current capability and low output impedance are exploited to full effect.
In the audio world, the 5687 has found an enthusiastic following as a driver tube in DHT preamplifiers, headphone amplifier output stages and line-level buffers.
