Description
The Philips JAN ECG 5751 is a NOS dual triode made to Joint Army-Navy (JAN) military specification — a lower-gain variant of the 12AX7 family with approximately 70% of the gain, excellent noise performance and outstanding reliability. The 5751 has earned a legendary reputation in guitar amplifier circles, partly on the basis of its alleged use by Stevie Ray Vaughan in his Dumble amplifier — and by many accounts it is the most natural-sounding, musical preamp valve available.
In Hi-Fi applications, the 5751’s lower gain can be exploited to reduce overall amplifier sensitivity or to allow a circuit to operate at a more linear, lower-distortion region of the valve’s characteristic. Genuine NOS Philips JAN production is among the most reliable and consistent ever manufactured.
Compatible with 12AX7, ECC83, 7025 and 5751 positions (at reduced gain). Single valve, tested before dispatch.
