Description
The Sovtek 5U4G is a large-bottle (‘G’ envelope) full-wave rectifier valve made at the Saratov plant in Russia. It is visually distinctive thanks to the careful attention to detail in its heater winding construction and is widely regarded as one of the finest rectifiers in current production for Hi-Fi use.
The 5U4G is compatible with 5Z3P type valves. As with all tube rectifiers, it provides a gradual, soft power supply start-up that many audiophiles and guitar players prefer over solid-state rectification. Its large glass envelope gives it a satisfying vintage aesthetic.
