Description
The Tung-Sol 5751 is a new-production dual triode that offers approximately 70% of the gain of a standard 12AX7 / ECC83 — making it an excellent tonal modifier in guitar amplifiers where the full 12AX7 gain is excessive, and in Hi-Fi preamps where a more linear operating point is desired.
In guitar amplifiers, a 5751 in the V1 position often produces a cleaner, more controlled response with reduced harshness at high gain settings — a well-known modification used by players seeking better dynamic control and a more natural breakup characteristic. In Hi-Fi contexts, the 5751 brings improved linearity and a more neutral tonal signature compared to the 12AX7.
Compatible with 12AX7, ECC83 and 7025 positions (at approximately 70% gain). Single valve, tested before dispatch.
