Description
The Tung-Sol KT120 is a high-power octal beam power tetrode with a plate dissipation rating of 60 W — substantially more than the KT88 (42 W) it is designed to complement or replace in approved amplifiers. Tung-Sol developed the KT120 to provide Hi-Fi amplifier manufacturers with a higher-output valve in the established KT family footprint.
The KT120 is specified by Audio Research Corporation, PrimaLuna, Rogue Audio, and other leading amplifier makers as a factory-approved output valve. In amplifiers rated for it, the KT120 delivers increased dynamic headroom, deeper bass extension, and a slightly more powerful and extended top end compared to KT88.
Supplied as a factory-matched quad of four valves. Use only in amplifiers specifically rated for KT120 by the manufacturer — do not substitute for KT88 without explicit manufacturer approval due to the higher heater current draw.
